BROAD FUNCTION:
The Product Marketing Chemist will interface at high levels with customers, industry experts and sales team to provide application, method development and technical support for field GC/MS instrumentation. This position requires use of information which is subject to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)., Non-U.S. persons selected must meet eligibility requirements for access to export restricted information. The EAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylum Holder, or Political Refugee.
Responsibilities:
Develop Analytical methods for GC/MS applications on new and existing products for the Military/Government, Emergency Response, and Environmental markets
Produce technical publications for GC/MS product in conjunction with Marketing Communications and Product Marketing staff to include application and technical notes, operator manuals, white papers, as well as general marketing material
Create or edit presentations and other materials to communicate application or technical development for product training, seminars and tradeshows
Conduct seminars and product demonstrations at customer sites and trade shows
Responsible to maintain GC/MS product inventory to ensure that it is operation ready
Interpret technical information and provide remote technical support and training via phone and Internet to worldwide sales team and customers
Manage GC/MS demo inventory, chemicals, gases and application testing accessories
Approximately 20-25% travel is required (domestic and international)
REQUIRED
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Recent graduates will need to provide a copy of their transcript as part of the interviewing and screening process.
Minimum of 2-4 years practical experience with GC/MS instrumentation performing analytical method development, column selection and sample preparation
Experience presenting and teaching technical information in front of large groups
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly
Critical analytical skills to effectively evaluate equipment performance and troubleshoot equipment and process problems
Strong interpersonal skills for the resolution of issues associated with completing daily activities
Ability to identify and anticipate problems or errors and provide innovative solutions
Excellent customer service and communication skills (both oral and written)
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe and Framemaker suite of products
Technical writing experience creating technical reports, papers and standard operating procedures.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Master's Degree or Ph.D in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
US Security Clearance
Knowledge of EPA methodology
Experience in technical or sales support.
