Weigh & Inspection Auditor

Job Purpose Statement


The Weights and Inspections (W&I) Auditor will reweigh and inspect customer shipments to ensure appropriate freight charges are applied to customer shipments. This position will also support the Pricing department as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Re-weigh and inspection process of customer shipments.

  • Coordinate W&I activity to ensure appropriate freight charges on each shipment.

  • Provide continuous review of accuracy of National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC ) commodity descriptions and reported weight on bills of ladings as provided by shippers.

  • Complete density studies for the Pricing department.

  • Provide support to Sales team on customer calls to existing and potential accounts.

  • Coordinate scale inspections and calibration of forklift weigh systems as needed. Train & instruct others on usage of same systems.

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Experience and Education:



  • High School diploma, 2 year college degree preferred

  • Basic computer skills to readily enter, access, review or change data as required.

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the implications of W&I corrections to our customers.

  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Organizational and prioritizing skills to expedite and effectively manage work load.

  • Ability to work varying shifts/hours/days as needed.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently

  • Must be able to work in a non-temperature controlled open air dock platform in all weather conditions (hot or cold weather)

  • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and walk frequently on a concrete dock surface subject to dust or other debris as needed to physically inspect shipments.

  • Ability to utilize NMFC as a resource to determine correct classification of customer shipments

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations necessary to do the work, including counting goods and weight calculation



Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
